Dump pounds of fat by doing this!

Yay,

The day before my birthday and I get a cool letter from Al Sears. Well, it isn't like it is a birthday letter, just another one of his daily newsletters. Most of his stuff is just a sales pitch for one of his products, but I understand that, I pitch my detox foot pads as often as I can, too. But he also seems to have some good advice, as well. And, I also would recommend what he suggests... so, good reading!!

Dear Rebecca,

Your body can dump pounds of fat with one simple command.
With the opposite command, it can pack on the pounds.
Wouldn’t it be better to push the “dump fat” button?
Problem is, we often tell it to do just the opposite.
Why does this happen?
Over millions of years, our bodies developed a survival mechanism.
When our protein intake goes up, our bodies let go of fat stores. When protein intake goes down, our bodies hold on to fat.
These commands are really that simple.
High protein = Dump fat
Low protein = Store fat
What does this have to do with survival?
When protein intake goes down, your body fears starvation and death. To help you survive, it stores fat and doesn’t let go.
This reaction developed as humans went through periods of feast and famine over thousands of generations.
But here’s the problem. In today’s world, we’re surrounded by food, but our bodies still react as if we’re starving.
All the low-protein chips, snacks, bread, and processed foods give our bodies the “fear of starvation” reaction.
That means your body is storing fat.
The easy solution is: Get more protein, and your body chooses the “dump fat” option.
But since we’re not living in the woods hunting our game anymore, here’s what to do:
Just add a couple scoops of protein powder to your favorite juice or even water.
It really is that simple.
But there is one catch. Most of the protein that you find out there comes from sick, diseased cows.
Imagine gulping down a concentrated cocktail of antibiotics, estrogen, and pesticides?
I have a better solution: organic, grass-fed whey protein powder.
This is the real stuff. Pure protein powder from free-roaming, grass-fed cattle.
This is the kind of protein that gets your body to hit the “dump fat” button.
It’s fast and simple.

My Dogs

This morning I went to sign my Dogs up for welfare.  At first the lady said, "Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare".  So I explained to her that my Dogs are  mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can't speak English and have no frigging clue who their Daddies are.  They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care, and feel guilty because they are dogs.

So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My Dogs get their first checks Friday.

Damn this is a great country.

News Flash! The HFCS Monopoly is Finally Cracking…

News Flash! The HFCS Monopoly is Finally Cracking…

Posted by Dr. Mercola | April 17 2010 | 10,839 views

high fructose corn syrup, HFCS, sugar, fructose, pepsi, kraft"The back-to-back, double whammy announcements that PepsiCo is ditching high fructose corn syrup in Gatorade along with the results of a scathing new study from researchers at Princeton make it official -- allies of the controversial sweetener have lost the war," BNET writes.
For years, the Corn Refiners Association has been arguing that HFCS is a perfectly natural product that is equal to other forms of sugar.
Of course, the Corn Refiners Association is not going to go down easily. Currently, they appear to be pretending the problem simply doesn’t exist.
On their Web site, “SweetSurprise.com”, they are still trumpeting an episode of the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric that ran a report basically parroting the industry line -- “high fructose corn syrup is just sugar with an image problem.”
However, a Princeton research team has again demonstrated that all sweeteners are NOT equal when it comes to weight gain -- rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same.
In addition to causing significant weight gain in lab animals, long-term consumption of high-fructose corn syrup also led to abnormal increases in body fat, especially in the abdomen, and a rise in circulating blood fats called triglycerides.
Making matters even worse, two other recent studies have also linked HFCS to liver disease. (A third found no connection.)
Intakes of sugar-sweetened beverages may increase levels of uric acid, a compound linked to decreased kidney function, and a cross-sectional analysis of data from almost 16,000 people found that the risk of chronic kidney disease increased by over 150 percent in those who more than one soda per day and had high levels of uric acid.
Researchers at the Duke University Medical Center stated: "We found that increased consumption of high fructose corn syrup was associated with scarring in the liver, or fibrosis, among patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)."
The researchers found only 19 percent of adults with NAFLD reported no intake of fructose-containing beverages, while 52 percent consumed between one and six servings a week and 29 percent consumed fructose-containing beverages on a daily basis.
An increase in consumption of fructose appeared to be correlated to increased liver fibrosis in patients with NAFLD. The researchers stated:
"We have identified an environmental risk factor that may contribute to the metabolic syndrome of insulin resistance and the complications of the metabolic syndrome, including liver injury."

Genetically modified crops - chart (hope it comes out formatted ok)

 ADOPTION OF BIOTECH
In 2009, the main genetically modified crops grown, by country:
Acres (millions) Crop type
United States 158.1 Soy, corn, cotton, canola
Brazil 52.8 Soy, corn, cotton
Argentina 52.6 Soy, corn, cotton
India 20.7 Cotton
Canada 20.2 Canola, corn, soy, sugar beet
China 9.1 Cotton, tomato, poplar
Paraguay 5.4 Soy
South Africa 5.1 Corn, soy, cotton
Source: International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications

Which modifications are the most common?
The most commonly used biotech trait, 62% worldwide, is herbicide resistance. These plants have been engineered to resist the herbicide glyphosate, often sold under the name Roundup. This allows farmers to plant their seed, let the weeds and crop grow up, and then spray glyphosate, killing only the weeds but not the crop. It has led to "no-till" crops where farmers don't have to plow, decreasing soil erosion, water loss and the release of carbon.
The second most commonly grown genetically modified crops, 16% worldwide, are various Bt varieties, which have had a gene from a naturally occurring soil bacteria called Bacillus thuringiensis added and produce a mild pesticide. The same protein these crops produce also is allowable in organic agriculture because it is considered natural and non-toxic.
Varieties that contain both traits make up 21% of genetically modified crops, according to the International Agency for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Hidden hazards of nano-ingredients

I have a couple things to say about this article by Dr. W.C. Douglass, MD. First, I am extremely afraid of nano-technology in our food... second, I don't even think that my detox foot pads can get these toxic, DNA-damaging "nano-particles" out of your body (no testing on this has been done, so I am not going to say that my detox foot patches CAN pull them out of your body when I am not sure. My foot pads can do amazing things... unfortunately I will not say they can help with this!)

Last of all, I am very excited that my garden is ready to plant. I am just waiting a few more weeks to plant the majority of my stuff, but I will be planting my lettuce and broccoli this weekend. I was told they are "cold weather" veggies and can withstand a frost or two... I thought I was told that beans can weather the frost, too, but I am not positive, so I will have to check. I LOVE green beans!! And, when our fruit starts producing, I will make homemade jam, I will can, I will make pies, oh, it will be fun!!! (and healthy). No more putting toxins in my body!!

Take care!
Rebecca

Hidden hazards of nano-ingredients

By W.C. Douglass, MD

I never thought I'd say this, but there's something in your food that's even worse than sugar... and this microscopic new threat isn't even listed on the ingredients label.

These tiny terrors are called "nanoparticles" or "nanomaterials," and they've been scientifically engineered to make foods look better and last longer.

But when it comes to nano, just say no-no -- because nanotechnology, as it's called, is wildly unregulated and dangerously untested. In fact, we have no idea at all what this junk might to do humans -- yet you're probably eating it right now.

Welcome to your new life as a supermarket lab rat.

What little we do know is downright frightening: A two-year study on animals at UCLA found nano-titanium dioxide -- the most common nanoparticle -- caused DNA and chromosome damage, according to AOL News.

The researchers say this kind of severe damage could lead to cancer, heart disease and brain disease... and yet these nano-particles are turning up in everything from fruit and vegetable coatings to salad dressing to ice cream.

We used to call that food tampering. Instead, the mad scientists behind this sick scheme are considered industry pioneers.

Meanwhile, the FDA is so in the dark on this one that they won't even admit it's in your food... even if its own experts say it is. In fact, the AOL News report found that 20 of the world's top food makers have their own nano-labs or contracts with universities to develop nano-ingredients for them.

And because there's no requirement to list these particles on nutritional labels, there's no way of knowing if your food has been nano-tainted... and therefore no way to avoid it.

It's reaching the point where the only way to be safe is to grow your own -- and if you have the time and space, don't wait -- spring is here. Start planting today.
