my addiction to advice columns

I have this addiction to reading advice columns. It started with my reading of Ann Landers' advice column in the San Jose Mercury News every morning as I ate breakfast, from the time I was about 7 or 8 years old. Now, it is easier to read, thanks to the internet. I get my fill of Dear Abby, Ask Amy, Miss Manners, Dear Prudence, Carolyn Hax, etc.

I think the reason this is so vital to my daily life is to keep reminding myself that even though I have my quirks and bad habits, I am COMPLETELY normal and don't have very many problems, compared to those who write for advice.

Another thing I think relates to this, is that reading these columns makes me extremely grateful for what I DO have.

I am grateful for my family, my friends, my wonderful Steve, my job, my education, my intellect; and for all the normalcy they provide.
